What do most of you do to clean a panel after you have blocked it? I am wanting to know if you can just blow it off with air and run a tack cloth over it before shooting the next couple of coats of 2k. Thanks

that will work fine but most of the time i will use the 700 waterborne cleaner between applications. it really cleans things up. dust, fingerprints and light oils from touching the primer.

Clean it with waterborne unless it's something that doesn't matter.

No, but ounce for ounce, SPI waterborne is a very competitive alternative to alcohol, and it performs better, imho.

Crash, why would it perform better? I have the waterborne cleaner but I haven't found it to be any better. I deal with a lot of silicone drenched parts and need something that will cut through that garbage fast and completely.

Well, specific solvents are good for specific tasks. SPI Waterborne contains a blend of solvents, therefore there is a wider range of materials which it will dissolve. Water itself is known as a solvent.

I'm not knocking your use of alcohol, it sounds like for what you do, you have found something that works for you.

Maybe Barry will add some knowledge to this discussion, to be able to explain the action of various solvents on different contaminants really requires a knowledge of chemistry which I just don't have.

I know you're not knocking me and it wasn't taken as such. I find that alcohol will remove a lot of stuff. I have always wanted a product that would cause water to sheet off the panel and the alcyhol seems to do that plus there are not residues left behind. I am using 91% isopropyl, $3 @ wallyworld.

$3 for how much? The retail price of SPI 700-1 is $23.27/gal, which is 18¢ per ounce.
