Barry sells a good quality lacquer primer that you can use for guide coats... I have found this the only way to do things if you are guide coating a whole car.. and the fact that it is cheap and can be mixed with regular urethane reducer keeps it simple... no other products to keep up with.. A gallon of this will go a very long way for guide coats.. There is not any other use I have for it... It is not suitable for a surfacer in todays market... Urethane is the only way to go for your primer surfacer!!!!

#6000-1 Lacquer Primer Gray - Gallon
$36.52

#6000-4 Lacquer Primer - Quart
$11.34

SPI lacquer primer is to be thinned 100-150% with SPI'S 860 or 870 urethane reducer.

you can, I have both grey and red lacquer..however if he only had the grey, tinting it will keep from having to buy more primer

UPOL makes an aerosol dry guide coat that works like the 3M but is a lot easier to use.

I just use left over paint for a guide coat. There is alwas a little left and that gets rid of it.
